Overview
Enjoy views of Launceston City on the way to Brady's lookout where the magnificence of the Tamar River Valley can be seen from a vantage point once used by the bushranger “Mathew Brady”. Traveling on through the rural town of Exeter, and gold mining town of Beaconsfield, to Beauty Point, where at Platypus House, we watch Tasmanian Platypuses and Echidnas in an indoor setting during a fully guided tour of the facility. You are guaranteed to see these spectacular egg laying mammals at close range actively feeding and playing in daylight conditions during the tour. Visitors are assured of many great photographic opportunities and lasting memories. Next, for a unique experience that is stimulating, different and fun, we visit Seahorse World to be escorted on an interpretation tour of the world's first Seahorse farm, where thousands of these creatures are available for viewing. An informative guide will tell you the history of this facility and introduce you to the live marine creatures in their touch tank. The tour passes by some of Tasmania's Northern vineyards and on to the unusual A-framed cable truss Batman Bridge that spans the Tamar River at Whirlpool Reach. After following the river to Gravelly Beach and Blackwall we visit the Swiss Style resort village of “Grindelwald” in its magnificent setting amid lakes and mountain views. Take time to wander among the village's variety of shops & cafe's selling crafts, souvenirs, gifts, hand made chocolates, ice cream and bakery products, before returning to Launceston. Lunch is not provided but there are opportunities to purchase food and drink during the tour.
